The Position:
We are looking for a collaborative Assistant Project Manager/Estimator to join our fast-paced and tight-knit team!  In this role, you will focus on assisting project managers and the lead estimator from start to finish on B&D projects. Ultimately, you will assist in preparing bids, supporting current projects, and reviewing and analyzing completed projects in order to ensure B&D Landscape Contractors remains competitive within the industry. 

Project Management Support

  • Resolves problems, prepares schedules, and enforces deadlines set by the Project Manager to ensure timely completion of work. 
  • Periodically inspects work in progress for quality and accuracy and reports findings back to the Project Manager. 
  • Executes strategies to increase productivity, quality, customer satisfaction, and employee effectiveness/satisfaction/recognition.
  • Assists in providing innovative, concise, and complete recommendations to afford more efficient and effective methodologies and solutions to ensure that potential negative impacts are mitigated and that potential opportunities are maximized.
  • Improves and develops organization capabilities through effective performance management and planning/utilization of human and capital resources.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and prepares reports, records, and directives that measure productivity or goal achievement or to identify areas needing cost reduction or improvement. 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned in order to assist the project managers.

Estimating Support

  • Prepares estimates by analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other construction documents to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for bidding construction projects.
  • Estimates costs for materials, purchased and/or leased equipment, subcontracted work, production activities and requirements, and labor.
  • Provides preliminary estimates for planning purposes and detailed itemized estimates based on final plans and specifications.
  • Updates costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes.
  • Reviews supplier and subcontractor proposals and pricing.
  • Researches and evaluates subcontractors based on price, quality, selection, service, support, etc.
  • Prepares cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals.
  • Acts as a resource to project management during the award/start-up phase to clarify any issues regarding what was considered in the estimate including materials and methods of construction.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate contact information for suppliers, sub-contractors, and clients.
  • Analyzes postproduction costs and uses data to inform future project estimates.
  • Analyzes price proposals and other data to determine price structure.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support the lead estimator. 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Bachelors degree in related field a plus
  • Two (2+) or more years related experience and/or training in the Construction industry, Landscape Construction required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) required

B&D Landscape Construction is looking for an adaptable and goal-oriented Superintendent to join our tight-knit team! In this role, you will oversee all phases of a project and ensure that standard operating procedures are being met, as well as ensuring safety procedures are being followed. You will be responsible for managing project schedules and the procurement of materials needed for each project. You will also attend scheduled meetings with the Project Manager to provide updates and address any concerns that arise.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee/supervise projects from beginning to completion to make sure that specs are followed and completed under Standard Operating Procedures guidelines.

  • Schedule and coordinate subcontractors and crews.
  • Encourage and enforce OSHA Safety program.
  • Manage progress updates with crews and subcontractors.
  • Inform Project Managers, Estimating, Operations, and Senior Associates of changes, problems, or plan discrepancies.
  • Keep regular accounts in the form of daily reports and photos in Procore on a daily basis.
  • Ensure the quality of work is within the guidelines of construction documents using B&D quality control standards.
  • Provide supervision to others through motivation, direction, review, and feedback of assigned tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience in related industry required
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Five (5) plus years of related experience and/or training in the Construction industry, Landscape Construction preferred
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred
  • On-the-job training in landscaping, hardscaping, lawn maintenance, and/or construction required.
  • Ability to plan accordingly and manage time

B&D Landscape Construction is looking for a highly motivated, innovative, estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a degree in horticulture or relevant experience in the landscape industry and a minimum of 2 years of experience estimating construction projects with a proven track record. The Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates by analyzing proposals and requirements in the Greater Houston area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other construction documents to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for bidding construction projects, applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, and processes.
  • Prepare estimates.
  • Estimates costs for materials, purchased and/or leased equipment, subcontracted work, production activities and requirements, and labor.
  • Provides preliminary estimates for planning purposes and detailed itemized estimates based on final plans and specifications.
  • Identifies and quantifies potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs.

  • Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists.

B&D Landscape Construction is looking for a highly motivated, innovative crew member to join our team as a driver and helper. The ideal candidate will have held a driver’s license for at least 3 years, with a proven track record of safety and quality work.

In this position, you will be responsible for transporting and delivering landscape materials and equipment (mini excavators, skidsteers) to commercial jobsites in and around the Houston, Texas metro area. There may be some travel required to other major metropolitan areas (Austin, San Antonio, Dallas and Fort Worth). When not moving equipment or delivering landscaping materials, you will be asked to lend a hand on construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport equipment and materials from warehouse to jobsite or between job sites
  • Unload tools, prepare building site materials, stack building materials, and set up equipment
  • Follow project instructions from construction manager or supervisor
  • Direct traffic safely around the construction or road maintenance site
  • Use construction and maintenance tools and equipment to complete daily tasks
  • Follow all health and safety regulations when operating equipment
  • Ensure regulated and proper headgear, earplugs, gloves, safety glasses, and clothing are worn
  • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Provide assistance to contractors (i.e. craft workers, electricians, painters) as needed
  • Clean and clear debris and hazardous materials
  • Ensure construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly

Qualifications:

  • Three years licensed as a driver required (CDL not required)
  • Ability to pull 20 foot trailer
  • Proven ability to follow instructions.

B&D Landscape Construction is looking for a highly motivated, innovative, Project Manager to join our team. The Project Manager position is a critical role within the company and plays an integral part in both the success of the business and the completion of large-scale landscape installation projects. The ideal candidate will utilize their skills efficiently, effectively and professionally in order to represent the company and demonstrate its commitment to quality service. 

The Project Manager will be responsible for the daily oversight of multiple, complex landscape projects, from beginning to end, including site development, project layout, office and field crew supervision, and budgeting/cost control. He/she will provide leadership to ensure quality, timely and profitable completion of landscape installation projects. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with, and assist, Estimating Department during the bidding phase and review all final bids upon start of project for thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Manage construction/installation projects from post-bid through completion in accordance with B&D customer service ideals and quality standards.
  • Act as point-of-contact with client and build solid relationships through consistent communications for the duration of the project.
  • Establish project lead times and schedule work force, equipment, and deliverables.
  • Supervise installation field crews onsite, ensure company safety standards are adhered to and that a safe and secure jobsite is established for both employees and customers.
  • Communicate with Crew Leaders on a daily basis to ensure work schedules are followed and crew time is reported accurately. Ensure that there is a clear understanding by the crew regarding scope of work and time parameters set for installation.
  • Order materials required for projects working from initial designs.
  • Monitor project progress and deliver reports and updates to internal stakeholders, general contractors, landscape architects and clients.
  • Generate punch lists and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
  • Prepare and present all change order requests to internal stake holders and customers.
  • Manage project budgets and profitability goals; interpretation and management of job cost reports, expenditures, etc.
  • Conduct any inspections and walk-throughs required by municipal authorities.

  • Unload tools, prepare building site materials, stack building materials, and set up equipment
  • Follow project instructions from construction manager or supervisor
  • Consult with construction plans
  • Direct traffic safely around the construction or road maintenance site
  • Use construction and maintenance tools and equipment to complete daily tasks
  • Follow all health and safety regulations when operating equipment
  • Ensure regulated and proper headgear, earplugs, gloves, safety glasses, and clothing are worn
  • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assist in building scaffolding and temporary structures
  • Safely operate a variety of tools including pressure washers, jackhammers, drills, saws, grinders, and blowtorches
  • Prepare new construction sites by digging, moving dirt, or compacting space
  • Provide assistance to contractors (i.e. craft workers, electricians, painters) as needed
  • Clean and clear debris and hazardous materials
  • Ensure construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly

Qualifications:

  • Three years commercial construction experience required
  • Proven ability to follow instructions.
