We’re stoked to announce the promotion of Kelly Carmouche to Vice President of B&D Landscape Contractors, filling the role previously held by now-President Bill Thorne.
The story of Kelly’s tenure with B&D started in 2012 when he joined our team as a project manager. His first job entailed leading one of the four projects we were hired to construct at Halliburton’s North Belt campus, more specifically the Acoustical Testing Facility water recirculation system. To say it was non-traditional in nature would be an understatement – this water feature involved building a 40’ tank that would be used to test fracking equipment. Not our typical ask, but a perfect example of how we help our clients Think Outside.
From there, Kelly would go on to manage several notable projects around the Houston area, including the University of Downtown Houston, Shell Woodcreek, George R. Brown Convention Center, Ion District, 1550 On The Green, Texas Tower, Levy Park, multiple phases of work for Halliburton and the Houston Zoo Gorilla Habitat. Kelly’s breadth of experience, coupled with his uncanny ability to problem solve led to a promotion to Executive Project Manager in 2021.
“Kelly’s get-it-done mentality, combined with his knowledge of the industry, has made him an invaluable asset to our team,” said Bill of his successor. “Having Kelly as Vice President will power us into the future and create new growth opportunities for him and B&D. I look forward to seeing him apply his skillset to this new role and how that will filter through our culture and client work.”
Before coming to work for us, Kelly graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture. Post-college, he spent five years working for well-known landscape architecture and design firm, SWA Group, but desired to work on the construction side of the business. So he made his way to B&D.
The combination of Kelly’s education and experience has proven invaluable to our company. His tenure at landscape architecture firms enables him to tackle hardscape installation challenges through his ability to envision the landscape architect’s intent, while also identifying what obstacles need to be worked through in the field to achieve the desired result in a feasible, yet cost-effective way. Kelly’s ability to address issues before they arise is bar none.
As Vice President, Kelly will oversee our team of project managers, providing guidance and input with the goal of helping every client achieve a quality outdoor solution. In addition, he will lead the growth of our water features division, which he is exceptionally equipped to handle. We can’t wait to see the growth this promotion will bring to his career (and B&D) as he continues to Think Outside.
